Recently, I was going through a box of mementos, and I found a tape I had made for Buck before we were married in 1994. When I played it for Buck, he said, "We need to share it with our friends. It's a love story that others would enjoy. Let's make a CD of it, and I'll put it on the internet and the WV radio station."
Nearly 20 years ago, Jesus revealed His plan for a new relationship between Buck and me. Buck's first wife had died from cancer, and I had been single for 13 years. The Lord, in His grand design, had brought both of us together at a little nursing home outreach church in Grandin, FL that Buck and Clarisse had started in 1991. After her death, the Lord gave Buck and me dreams in which He showed us that He was now putting us together for His good purpose and glory, and, to carry on the nursing home ministry. We were both willing to follow His plan for our lives, but, before our marriage, Buck took to the road to continue carrying the Gospel message into the nursing homes by himself. Wanting Buck to be encouraged in the Lord Jesus and wanting him to know of my love, I made a tape for him to take with him. I set up my keyboard, turned on the tape recorder, and sang some of my favorite love songs to Jesus for my husband-to-be, envisioning they would give him strength as he traveled to Orlando, Okeechobee, and Pahokee, FL. The last song that I included was "Cherish the Treasure," which the two of us sang to each other on our wedding day.
We pray that this copy of that original recording will draw you closer to Jesus, our soon-coming Bridegroom. May your love for Jesus be inflamed anew. Buck and I are more in love with Jesus and each other than ever before. And we love you. Draw close to the One, Who loves you best. Love, Nikki Stanley
